Please Help Save Vui Kong

Dear Readers,

I know this is very sudden update, but please help sign a petition and help save Vui Kong from his death sentenced in Singapore.

The picture above is Vui Kong, the 22 year old Malaysian whom ventured out of Sabah to Kuala Lumpur in search of better incomes and incentives in hopes of improving his families life, who is still living in Sabah.

Before that, Vui Kong lived with his mother and two other brothers in their grandfather's estate in Sabah. They worked right till dawn. If they were to return late from their 'designated time', they will be punished.

Vui Kong's mother works as a Dish Washer, with only RM200 as pay every month. Despite being a hard-worker, Vui Kong's mother was frequently abused by his grandfather and also her peers at work.

At 12, Vui Kong fled the estate by lying to his mother, that he found a 'godfather' and that he plans to go live with him. In truth, Vui Kong was merely trying to find a way to bring his beloved mother away from the estate.

The 'godfather' he claimed to be is actually operates an illegal casino, dealing with gambling machines. He was 'asked to leave', before he was eventually at the streets again.

He started taking up odd jobs, some would only pay him RM3 a day.

Soon after, Vui Kong inability to watch his mother suffer anymore, decided to move to Kuala Lumpur, with the hopes of getting a better job. He worked and saved his hard earned money for months before he eventually had enough for a plane ticket, in which the destination that he will embark, will change his life.

His arrival at Kuala Lumpur, didn't well as he thought. He started taking up odd jobs again before he eventually got into selling illegal VCDs. One event led to another, he was then introduced to the underbelly of KL. He was showered with 'beautiful' things and objects, but of course, all beautiful things come with a price. He was required to collect debts and send 'gifts' to the 'big brother's' customers. Little did he know how much risk, he was taking before he was eventually caught.

Vui Kong traveled back and forth from Johore to Singapore collecting 'debts' and sending 'gifts'. These 'gifts' are actually heroin drugs. Luck was on his side before he was eventually arrested and sentenced to death for drug trafficking in Singapore.

Contemporary Era vs Family Life

Hey there everyone!

I know i left the blog not updated for a while, and i apologize for that. I just got my final results out not long ago, i would say i did okay. I got 71% as an average, good enough to apply for Monash University. Speaking of that, i did that today, i applied for Bachelors in Arts merely because of the subject flexibility and the subjects (major and minor) provided in comparison of the Bachelors in Communications where the pathway is already been set and done. Hopefully i will be able to successfully be accepted in to Monash.

Well, as the title of my blog post today has spoken i would like to discuss or rather rant about the evolving contemporary era vs. the family life nowadays.

As i progressed through my Geography and Social Science class, i began to see the wider picture of how the education inflation, the media influences, mentality and attitude of the people today are actually going backwards to the agricultural era, where children are viewed as an economical asset rather than a psychological aspect of life. But of course, education wasn't as important back then if compared to now, but the viewpoint of children being a economical asset still remains and lingers in the society, not just Malaysia but many other countries also.

In the late 19th centuries where education was put as a compulsory implementation and a right for children, parents of the people than started to discover the importance of physiological involvement in their child's daily life, would greatly affect the child's development and well-being in the future. However, child labor is still practiced in more rural or less educated areas in the world. Based by the story of my grandmother's life and my mother's back in the 1950s (the baby boomer period), the poorer people would still need to give up education to work to support their large extended family members, but of course it would be a totally different perspective if we were to consider that people then lived in large families.

People of the 20th century or rather the 'contemporary' era should be more educated in terms of mentality and the way of thinking... that what we all assumed it to be, however the sad truth is that, No. Not everyone is. Like every other people whom views the world in the same depth that i do, would call this the 3rd world mentality. Sad to say, but majority of the Malaysian practices this, whether it be in driving or handling their family problems.

I wouldn't dare say that during this period of time, that education isn't important. Yes, it's very important, but there must be a balance between studies and family time. I would say that 80% of the Malaysian teens don't spend family time together anymore. They wouldn't discuss personal problems, or talk about any other things with their parents. I do share things with my parents, but of course it would all fail miserably. My mother especially. I do truly detest her attitude problem. I understand that she is in her menopause stage but still, take the time and listen to people before you start yelling at people, saying that they don't understand.

Let me say something for most the teens out there. We do understand, we know that there is work stress and financial stress. We know. However, what we teens really want, is simply to have someone who would sit down, and listen. Someone who would, listen and THINK rationally and consider the words before it comes out from the mouth. Come on, we are all educated people, we need to sit down, and discuss. Not fight, argue or yell. It ain't solving anything. Nothing can be done with that.

I am disgusted with people who only knows how to judge people without looking at their self. Truly is a shameful thing to do, especially when you speak of somebody's attitude without looking at yours which actually have the same attitude problem.

Please, dear readers, look at yourself and ask.

If you hate a person's attitude, personality or any other things, please, please, PLEASE look at yourself and ask, am i like that too?

If you truly hate that attitude of that person, and you are hurt or angry by that. Put yourself in their shoe, think and consider about the other person's feeling. Wouldn't they hate it too?

I would mimic my mum's attitude and give the same treatment to her when she does it. And when i did it, she hated it. Then i would always pop the questions, You hate it right? What about me when you do it to me? Because now, i am your reflection. I do, what you do to me.

For all the parents out there,

please think deeply for a few moment. Is your parenting style correct? Are you seeing your child as an long-term investment program? Let me remind you, whether we teens are modernized by globalization or not. We're still humans. We are still your children. We have feelings. We have our own problems too. So please sit down and listen sometime, because you may not be always right.

window shopping + food

Heya!

XD i went out with Jilly today, Shermy was supposed to join but she could not come (i think i know why), but oh well....

We started our supposingly shopping trip today at BBQ plaza (we love that place!), and we had a economy beef set. Too bad, Shermy wasn't here =(

Later on, we did some picture taking XD which was pretty fun, if i could smile without my eyes disappearing. BD

I will probably upload some pictures later on. XD If i have the time. Kekeke

Kyaaaa!

Been having a real busy month. Lecturers has been raining my class ISUs. 4 Subjects at the same time. MEEEEP!

It's definitely not easy to keep up with work, blogging, gaming, and shopping at the same time. I bought two things the other during Zara's final clearance sale in 1 Utama....however, the items are new arrival..( i've been conned D=< ) just kidding... XD This is a picture of the two piece, LBD and Military Jacket combo, (and no i am not cosplaying Lelouch nor any Gundam Characters)

Anyhow, i haven't been able to sleep well lately either. I usually hit the sack around 12 or 1 AM but now, i either go to bed around 4 or i wouldn't get any sleep, at all. Huu huu....my eyes bags are growing.

My cousin Jane, came over for a few days. XD We had real fun! We even cosplayed! Too bad i had my computer reformatted, or else i would be able to upload it here. It's insane, trust me.
Watched Gamer with her, a good show truly...but the are still room for improvement. =D

and i need a new keyboard for my desktop....the arrow keys are dead. -.-

Boyfriend Blazers + Updates

Hey everyone!

Haha, i have been a good girl lately haven't i? I have been posting and updating my blog! (Max i need no nagging, no more >=D)

Anyway, hahaha back to the topic, i have just spotted this beau in one of the blogshops just yesterday. This is the Topshop's Boyfriend Blazer, isn't it pretty????? XD I bet the price tag cost me a bomb.

"Ain't I a Beau?"
Me: "Yeah, I bet you cost a bomb too."

Haha, also i managed to get people to sign for the petitions! And it feels great. I maybe unable to do this all alone, but with the help of many other people signing for the petition it actually does help. So if you haven't sign for the Arrest Me If Saving Whales in a Crime Petition, please do it. For the sake of those beautiful great friendly giants! What are you waiting for? GOGOGOGO!

I also realized i am spending aloooot, i do mean ALOT this month and the past month. Buying clothings online especially. =___=;; I don't usually buy clothes but now, i buy alot. I need to start selling my unused clothings.

I am now splurging on this black prom skirt. it's exactly like Topshop Prom skirt which i already own, but no harm owning another one of this skirt. They are good for formal events. I usually wear this skirt for formal presentations paired with my blazer. Owh i also have another one coming on it's way.

I also got myself a pair of black liquid leggings to go with my slouchy clothings and i sincerely hope it will fit me.

I also spotted a dupe of the boyfriend blazer which i have shown in the picture above. I just mailed the blogshop owner. Hopefully i will be able to own this also. Because blazers are classic and they won't go out of fashion. Definitely worth the keep. :)

My best friend Michelle and I are trying our luck to secure this dress but in different colors. Mine in black and hers white. (secretly i wish they will no stock available so i could save my money) XD

I'm Alive! + Whaling

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to make a post saying that i am still alive and well. I was too busy with my college work that i barely could find anytime to update my blog.

Personally after the long time hiatus from blogging (usual ranting) i found that i have matured a lot after having started my second semester at Sun-U, especially after taking the course - Canadian and World Issue. I, not only found and got a great lecturer - Ms. Nancy (you know we love you! XD), i am also now aware of many big major things that i was ignorant of.

One of the few major things going around the world is the Water Wars and also the Whaling Campaign (which i have chosen for my ISU project).

Whaling have been around since ancient times, many whales are hunted by the aboriginal as their main food source, whereas in Korea and Japan, only the Korean and Japanese's Royalties gets to eat them, but that's still fine because it's only hunting limited numbers of whales, maybe less than 20 a year. But looking at how the whaling industry has evolved, and almost all Norwegian, Koreans, Japanese, Icelandics and others hunt whale at big numbers. The Koreans has started to put a halt in whaling but the Norwegian, Icelandics and the Japanese are still hunting at large. But hunting are not the only one killing these friendly giants. Large cargo ships which resonates at a low frequency (like the whales), often confuses the whale will lead them face to face with a bigger giant, resulting in collision.

Do you know? Humpbacks that used to number about 1 Million, currently only has estimated 20,000 worldwide, and are now facing extinction. But the MAIN whale that is already near extinction is the Blue Whale, the largest (if not first) mammal in the world. They have become so little in numbers that some of the females mate with their cousins whale species the fin whale, because it has become incredibly hard to find another blue whale.

Blue whale normally travels around during the winter season. They travel to the South from the North and vice versa. Blue whales are so enormous that they feed during winter seasons whereas the other whales don't usually eat. A pregnant Blue whale will normally travel across regions to the ever-changing Costa Rica Dome.

An interesting fact about the Costa Rica Dome is that it has two kinds of water. The upper layer consist of warm water whereas the lower depth consist of cold water. Making it a perfect spot of blue whales to feed and to give birth to their offspring. Sadly, it's very rare to be able to see a blue whale calf because most of them have become hybrid (fin whale + blue whale).

There still many other things that i have yet to learn about these friendly giants. But please help make a difference by signing up for this petition to free the two Greenpeace activist (Junichi Sato and Toru Suzuki) which are currently going on trial because they have discovered that prime cuts of whale meat were being smuggled from the whaling ship Nisshin Maru (the biggest whale meat producer) to crew members for their personal gain, one box alone being valued at US $3,000. PS. Please remember, the few minutes you take to fill up the petition can save many whales. Please take the initiative to do it, but not as favor but rather something you would do to help save whales and stop whaling. Remember you can make a difference. =D
